The Complete OBD Adapter Guide for Workshops
Blog › Diagnostics ·Choosing the right OBD adapter can be confusing. There are hundreds of options on Amazon alone, and most of them are junk. Here's what actually matters for a professional workshop.
The short version
For a fully equipped workshop, keep two adapters in your toolbox: a vLinker MC+ for everyday diagnostics and Volvo/Ford specials, and a vLinker FD+ for 2021+ vehicles that use CAN-FD.
Adapter recommendations by use case

What about cheap ELM327 adapters?
The generic ELM327 clones you find for €10 often have counterfeit chips, drop connections mid-session, and can't handle extended PIDs. For a professional workshop, they cost you more time than they save.
Why Bluetooth Low Energy?
MechMind uses Web Bluetooth, which only works with BLE adapters. Classic Bluetooth and WiFi adapters are not supported. This means your adapter must explicitly support BLE (Bluetooth 4.0+).
